About the Physical Media Project

The Physical Media Project is dedicated to showcasing the best ways to collect classic cartoons on physical media. Over the decades there have been a myriad of releases of classic cartoons with no clear help from the studios on what needs to be purchased to own a complete set.

Why Physical Media?

When you purchase content on streaming services or digital platforms, you're not actually buying the movie or show - you're licensing the right to watch it. This license can be revoked at any time, for any reason. Time and time again streaming platforms drop shows without warning, like HBO's purge of Looney Tunes. Netflix has removed thousands of titles over the years due to licensing deals expiring. When you own the physical media, you can watch these shows regardless of corporate decisions or licensing disputes. You own the disc and the content on it permanently.

Content on streaming platforms is often heavily edited (see Toy Story's color edits)or censored. Physical media often has truer-to-form depictions of the actual content.
